NIGERIA DIASPORA THINK TANK CONGRATULATES AMBASSADOR JIMOH IBRAHIM ON UN APPOINTMENT

The Nigeria Diaspora Think Tank (NDTT), one of the largest Nigerian organizations in the Diaspora, with a membership of more than 500 Nigerian professionals drawn from diverse backgrounds and all major ethnic groups in Nigeria, has congratulated Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim on his appointment as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The organization, which operates with a pro-Nigeria philosophy and remains non-partisan, described the appointment as an opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s voice and interests on the global stage.

In a statement, NDTT Secretary-General, Dr. Joseph Onyeubie, said the appointment should be viewed as a responsibility to humanity and an opportunity to advance Nigeria’s interests internationally.

Dr. Onyeubie said he expects Ambassador Ibrahim to use his new position to strengthen Nigeria’s relationships with other nations, promote economic development, develop human capital, and improve the country’s image globally.

“Jimoh Ibrahim is not just representing Ondo State. He is representing Nigeria. He should use the position to promote Nigeria’s image, strengthen relationships with other nations, and contribute to economic and human capital development. To whom much is given, much is expected,” Dr. Onyeubie said.

NDTT Treasurer, Seun Adeya, described the appointment as a source of pride for Ondo State, saying the ultimate measure of the appointment would be the impact Ambassador Ibrahim makes in the office.

“Appointment creates opportunity; performance creates legacy. We will have even greater reason to be proud if this appointment translates into stronger diplomatic influence for Nigeria, increased international partnerships, and greater contribution to national development,” Mr. Adeya said.

The NDTT Chairman, Professor Salewa Olafioye, congratulated Ambassador Ibrahim and expressed the hope that he would build on Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations, particularly in advancing the country’s aspiration for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Professor Olafioye, who served for four years as a UNDP consultant, said Ambassador Ibrahim has an important opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s long-term diplomatic interests.

“My hope is that His Excellency Ambassador Ibrahim will follow in the footsteps of His Excellency Ibrahim Gambari to secure a permanent seat on the UN Security Council for Nigeria,” Professor Olafioye said.

The Nigeria Diaspora Think Tank congratulated Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim and wished him success in his new responsibility, while urging him to use the office to advance Nigeria’s interests and strengthen the country’s standing in the international community.
