Chief Dele Omosehin, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has said his immediate political priority is to mobilise massive support across the state for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Omosehin made the declaration on Sunday in Okitipupa while addressing party leaders, political stakeholders and supporters at a thank-you meeting following his recent bid for the APC ticket to represent the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The meeting, which drew several political heavyweights and grassroots mobilisers, including members of the Asejere and Aseyori political support groups, provided an opportunity for Omosehin to appreciate those who stood firmly behind his aspiration.
Rather than dwell on the outcome of the contest, Omosehin used the occasion to outline what he described as his next political assignment: consolidating his political structure and mobilising support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“My immediate priority is to mobilise massively for President Tinubu’s re-election,” Omosehin told the gathering.
“We must put aside whatever differences may have emerged during the contest and focus on the bigger picture. The APC must remain strong, united and ready to deliver victory for our President.”
Omosehin said the experience of the House of Representatives primary had strengthened, rather than weakened, his resolve to contribute to the political development of the constituency.
The businessman and philanthropist, who said he neither won nor lost, stated that he was determined to use the lessons from the contest to build a broader political movement capable of engaging the people beyond election periods.
“We have a lot to do to redefine how politics is played in Okitipupa/Irele. Politics must not begin and end with elections. It must be about the people, their welfare, their aspirations and their future.
“We need a politics that empowers young people, gives our communities a voice and makes political leaders more accountable to the people they represent.”
The APC chieftain urged his supporters not to be discouraged by the outcome of the primary, assuring them that their sacrifices, commitment and loyalty had not been in vain.
He particularly commended members of the Asejere and Aseyori groups for their resilience and dedication throughout the primary process.
According to him, the political structure that emerged from the campaign would be sustained and deployed towards broader political objectives, including strengthening the APC at the grassroots.
Omosehin also appealed to party leaders and members to close ranks, saying that unity within the APC was essential to securing victory in the 2027 elections.
“We have a greater task ahead of us. The election is over, but our work has just begun. We must rebuild, reconcile and mobilise.
“President Tinubu needs our support, and our people need a stronger APC. That is where our energy should now be directed,” he said.
The meeting ended with supporters renewing their commitment to remain active in the APC and work towards the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.
