Coastal State Will Be Economically Self-Sufficient, Says Jimoh Ibrahim

…As 64 Senators Sign Memorandum of Support
Senator representing Ondo Southern Senatorial District, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim has declared that the Coastal State would be economically self-sufficient if eventually created by the Federal Government.
He stated this on Thursday while speaking on a bill he’s sponsoring on the floor of the Senate.
The billionaire business magnate argued that the Coastal State which he drafted to be carved out of the present Ondo State would be self-reliant as a result of natural resources abound in the region.
No fewer than 64 out of the 109 senators have endorsed the creation of the Coastal State as proposed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim said: “The creation of Coastal State is due as this would not create any burden to the Federal Government.
“Considering the natural resources in the proposed state, the state would be self-sufficient.
“There are different areas to explore in the State if its creation is approved at the end of the processes.
“At the moment, 64 senators have endorsed the creation of the Coastal State and signed Memorandum.
“Areas to explore include tourism, oil and gas, bitumen and the blue economy would be a huge contributor to the development and running of the government of the state.
“So, what I am saying is that the creation of the Coastal State would not be a burden to the coffer of the federation.
“The bill has enjoyed the support of the senators of the Federal Republic adequately and all necessary steps would be taken.”
