Wife of Irele Caretaker Chairman visits Irele assaulted girl
The Wife of the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Irele Local Government, Mrs. Jumoke Akinbiola visits Irele assaulted girl.
Mrs. Akinbiola who was earlier at the Okitipupa Specialist Hospital was joined by her husband, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Irele Local Government, Mr. Oluwatobi Akinbiola Nicholas and the Member representing Irele State Constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Samuel Ademola.
Speaking at the hospital, Mrs Akinbiola said, ” I am sure you have been shocked and appalled as myself by the report of the assault of seven years old Oluwatosin Abosede.”
Mrs. Akinbiola who described the story as very ugly incident, said preventive measures must be taken by parents to ensure that such incident does not reoccurr in the council again.
“I am calling on the police to get to the root of this matter and bring the perpetrator to book. Parents should also be vigilant and ensure they protect their children.”
Meanwhile, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Irele Local Government, Mr. Akinbiola Oluwatobi Nicholas hinted that security agencies in the local government have apprehended the culprit – a 16 year old girl and her associate.
He said, “across the breath and length of the country, girls are catch up in one crisis or the other from forced marriage to being child brides, teenage pregnancy, kidnapping, child labour and rape,”
“Irele Local Government will do all it takes to protect the girl child,” he said.
He said the Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu who has shown keen interest in the Nigerian child is also interested in the case.
