Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Friday reteriated the commitment of his administration to saving the lives of the children in the state because of their importance to the society.

Governor Akeredolu said immunizing a child is like protecting the future of the country, which the children represent.

Akeredolu spoke at the flag-off of the National Immunization Plus Day, 2019 , which was marked with a road show in Akure, the state capital.

The Governor promised to always support the immunization programme, urging the state Primary Health Care Development Agency to extend the road show to the market for people to understand the importance of the exercise.

Akeredolu said: “This is as important as ever because immunizing these children is like saving the life of the child. This is important than any other person, because you don’t know what the children will turn out to be. That’s why it’s very important to us.”

The Governor appreciated the state’s Primary Health Care Development Agency for its good works, which he said has ranked them well in the comity of states in the country.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Francis Akanbiemu, informed the Governor that the Agency in the state recorded over 300 in terms of performance in the last quality assurance survey that was conducted.

He thanked the Governor for the huge support given to the Agency, which he said, has made the immunization and other health programmes at the primary health care level to be very effective.
