The Election Petition Tribunal,sitting in Akure, Ondo State Capital, has nullified the election of Hon. Ikengboju Gboluga, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal constituency under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The court nullified the election of Gboluga for swearing his allegiance to the United Kingdom having acquired the citizenship of the country.

It was held that the lawmaker failed to properly renounce the citizenship of the United Kingdom before contesting the February 23rd election.

The court also declared Albert Akintoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was the first runners up in the election as winner of the poll.

Tribunal subsequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue certificate of return to Akintoye of the APC.
