Four persons have been arraigned for allegedly impersonating the Ondo State Anti Petroleum Hoarding Committee at the Magistrate Court 3, sitting in Akure the Ondo State capital.
The accused persons who were docked on four counts of extorting #10,250:00 cash, fraudulently receiving156 Litres of petrol valued at 10, 250 naira, unlawfully obtaining on credit for other persons 156 litres and the impersonation of the Ondo State Government Committee on Anti Petroleum Hoarding.
The persons: Akin Kayode, Akinde Babatunde, Olagundoye Sunday and Oride Michael committed the on 26th January, 2018 at about 1430hrs at Olaoluyi Filling Station at Itaogbolu, in Akure North Local Government Area, however pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Their counsel, Bode Akinyemi who prayed the court to grant them bail noted that the alleged crimes were bailable offences and assured the court that the defendants would be personally available in court to stand their trials.
“My lord, we admit that the defendants be granted bail in most liberal terms on the grounds that their alleged offences are bailable ones according to sections 146 and 150 of Ondo State Administration of Criminal Law 2015, the Counsel pleaded.
Ruling on the application which was not substantially objected to by the prosecution, the Presiding judge,Magistrate Charity Adeyanju granted the accused persons bail in the sum of #300,000 each, one surety not less than Grade Level 14 in the Civil Service each with two passport photographs
The case was adjourned till 22nd February, 2018.
