Sunshine Stars FC on Saturday ended the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign safely with a 1-0 derby triumph over Remo Stars in Shagamu.

The Akure Landlords will later contained the Sky Blues before securing their third away win to finish the season in 10th position with 54 points.
During a post match interview with Sunshine Stars FC Media Udi commended the team’s management and his players for all putting in a shift in the quest to achieve safety in a difficult season.
“First I thank God almighty for everything, also thanks to Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu for his support. Kudos to the Otunba Elegbeleye led Interim Committe for providing great leadership. Sad Elegbeleye said he has ended his assignment with us. He will surely be missed.”
“It was a great a task saving the team but am happy my players and everyone here worked very hard to achieve safety after today’s game.”
