Saka is a versatile politician with bias for the people at the grassroots. He is a highly industrious individual and a very amiable, humble and accommodating personality. He is someone who believes that success in life is irrelevant, if it is not relevant to the need of others. Saka is a true and genuine leader who having discovered himself and his purpose for living is greatly committed to exploring and expressing himself fully to the glory of God and benefit of mankind.

Selfless, responsible and impactful politicians like Hon. Saka Lawal should not only be appreciated for his good deeds and always connecting with the grassroots; but need the support of all and sundry to attain a higher position of responsibility. After all, a man that has demonstrated ample faithfulness with little is expected to put up perform better performance if he is given much.

Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal was born in 1963 to the family of Mr. & Mrs. Lawal Famuwagun of Afin in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He attended Ansarudeen Primary School, Afin Akoko between 1967 and 1972. He also attended Ansarudeen Modern School Ogbagi-Akoko between 1973 and 1975.

He had his Secondary School Education at Ajuwa Grammar School Okeagbe in the year 1976 to 1981. After his Secondary School Education, he joined the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs [NIIA] as an Internship Clerk.

Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal attended University of Lagos between 1984 and 1988 and emerged the best graduating student with a Second Class Upper Division in History and Strategic studies. While at the University of Lagos, he was the Student Union parliament Representative of the Faculty of Arts in the University Students Union 1985-87.

Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal also obtained a Scholarship Award of the Institute of International Affairs to pursue his Master Degree in Political Science at the University of Lagos in 1990 – 1991.

Working Career:
Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal started his working career with the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Victory Island, Lagos as an Internship Clerk. As a young officer, he was elected as the Institute’s secretary and later President of Non-academic Staff Union of Universities and Research Institute. After his NYSC he was reabsorbed as Higher Executive Officer in Research and Oral Documentation. He also served as the Special Assistant to the Director of Information, Research and Documentation Services. He was later promoted as the pioneering head of Oral Documentation Research Project.

The project was designed to put on record the experiences of career diplomats who served in Grade Foreign Missions. This project took Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal to about 12 former Heads of Foreign Missions. Among the ambassadors who participate in the project are: Peter Afolabi, Late Ambassador Leslie Hariman, Ambassador Aduke Alakija and late Ambassador General Joe Garba to mention a few. While at the Institute, he participated in many International Conferences on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts in Africa and Dialogue on Political Economy, etc

Among his publications are: The History of Shipping and its Strategic Importance to Nigeria 1959 – 1980: A Case study of Nigeria National Shipping Line.
The roles of G.7 (Non Aligned Nations) in UNCTAD among others.

Hon. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal retired in 1999 into Real Estate Business, and established Alphasam (Nig.) Ltd. in year 1999 and served as the Managing Director.
The company under took the construction of 500 Stalls Ultramodern Shopping Complex at Dopemu in Lagos for Agege Local Government. This Shopping Complex won the New Era Foundation Award initiated by Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu as the Best Shopping Complex in Lagos in 2005. He also constructed the Agbalata Shoe Market for Badagry Local Government and Bariga Ultra Modern for Shomolu Local Government all on Public Private Partnership.

As a lover of his people, he returned home to participate fully in Political Activities and became a full-fledged member of Alliance for Democracy in 1999. He served as Electoral Commissioner in ODIEC in year 2003 to 2006. He coordinated most strategic assignments of the commission and attended various seminars and conferences on Electoral Process and conduct of Election. He was saddled with the responsibility of supervising the 2004 Local Government Election in Ose, Akoko South East and Akoko South West Local Government Area.

He resigned voluntarily from ODIEC to work with Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in the formation of Labour Party [LP]. He became the Secretary, Central Campaign Committee of Labour Party [LP]. While the Labour Party was pursuing its case at the Appeal Court sitting in Benin City, he was the coordinator of the Media and Strategic group. He was later appointed as the Special Adviser [SA] to the Governor (Special Duty) later Planning and Strategy, Office of the Governor 2009-2011.

He served as Chairman and Member of Fifteen (15) Cabinet Committees between 2009-2011 on Agriculture, Health, Forestry among others.

He is a patron/member of the following organizations:
Patron, Anti-Corruption Awareness Organization, Nigeria, Ondo State.
Patron, Widows’ Outreach, St. David’s Cathedral Church, Ijomu
Patron, Credible Women for Elderly Care.
Member, Nigeria Institute of International Affairs.
