POLICE AUTHORITY APPROVES THREE ADDITIONAL AREA COMMANDS FOR ONDO STATE ON THE REQUEST OF GOV. AKEREDOLU
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has appreciated authorities of the Nigeria Police for approving three additional Area Commands to adequately beef-up security in the state.
The governor expressed happiness that the approval came about 24hours when he requested an Area Command of the Police to be sited in Okitipupa to secure the Southern Senatorial District of the state.
Governor Akeredolu spoke during a courtesy visit by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in- charge of Commands in Southwest Geo-political Zone; DIG Foluso Adebanjo, in Akure.
He said the challenges of the riverine communities within the Southern Senatorial District which included incessant incursion of the areas by miscreants needed to be effectively curtailed.
The governor therefore urged security operatives to find a way at fishing out criminals hiding in the numerous creeks in the areas.
Arakunrin Akeredolu who described Ondo State as a peaceful state and her citizens law-abiding, appealed to security agencies to work together with a view to providing adequate security for the people so that the peace being enjoyed in the state is sustained.
“I want to assure you that we will give the best of our support to the Police for effective collaboration” the governor declared.
Earlier, DIG Foluso Adebanjo had said the purpose of going round commands in the zone was to form robust partnerships with all stakeholders.
“The Police is the leading agency, but all incidences of crime cannot be curbed alone, it is a joint responsibility for all security agencies in the state. We must all join hands to ensure we have a peaceful Nigeria”, the DIG said
DIG Foluso Adebanjo used the opportunity of his visit to the Ondo State Governor to announce the approval of three additional Area Commands of the Nigeria Police for the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Mrs Hilda Ibifuro- Harrison accompanied the DIG on the visit.
