Wife of the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Hajia Aisha Buhari and Ondo State First Lady, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu together with 15 other First Ladies from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria were in Owerri to grace the 2017 edition of Imo women August Meeting Celebration initiated by the wife of Imo State Governor, Her Excellency Ugo Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha.

The two day annual event with the theme “WOMEN: BUILDING BRIDGES OF FRIENDSHIP ACROSS THE NIGER” is a socio-cultural, programme that brings Imo women from the 27 Local Government Areas together to display their various cultural heritage, chat common goals in the best interest of the State, and promote peace and unity in diversity.

Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu who is also a daughter of Owerri west LGA of Imo State led delegates from Ondo State to that epoch making event.

In her goodwill message, the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Asiha Muhammadu Buhari Commended Imo First Lady, for her efforts in putting the event together annually.

“Your zeal to organize this event annually and create such forum whereby women come together to discuss issues on the socio-economic and political development of our society, particularly on conflict resolution and peaceful coexistence among others is highly commendable”
