Owo Diocese renews Gov Akeredolu’s tenure as Chancellor
The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Owo Diocese has reappointed the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as its Chancellor.
Announcing the resolution of the synod during the Thanksgiving Service commemorating the end of its 2019 Synod which ushered in the 1st Session of the 13th Synod of the Diocese of Owo, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt Revd, Dr Stephen Fagbemi said the governor and other officers of the Diocese would serve for the next three years.
Preaching on the theme of the synod: ‘I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me’, Rt. Revd Ezekiel Dahunsi, the Bishop of of Idoani Diocese stated that the theme was a declaration of faith by those who have personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Bishop urged Christians to be resolutely determined to serve God with unwavering faith no matter the situation at hand or conditions that they found themselves.
He said Christianity does not mean absence of problems or unfortunate circumstances but a fervent declaration of the authority of the Almighty to make all situations normal and worthwhile for those who acknowledge His authority.
Rt. Revd Dahunsi said the race of life cannot be ran with human strength and knowledge except by the power of the Almighty through Christ who strengthens the faithful ones.
The Bishop used the opportunity to commended the Chancellor of the Diocese who is the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN , for being a worthy ambassador of the Church and Christ.
While saying that the approach of the Governor to governance has remained salutary and beneficial to the people of the state, the Cleric appealed to the governor to remain in Christ for the sustenance of his strength so as to record more monumental achievements in office.
High point of the Thanksgiving Service held at the St Patrick’s Church, Ijebu- Owo was the presentation of Awards of Service to several personalities including the former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori.
