OSOPADEC pledges good outing for Ondo state at the forthcoming National Council on Niger Delta meeting
The Chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Barr. Olugbenga Edema, has promised to deliver the best outing for the State in the forthcoming National Council on Niger Delta meeting scheduled to hold in the State between 7th and 12th of August this year, with the theme, Fast-tracking Development and Peace in the Niger Delta Region.
Barrister Edema, who is the Chairman of the 11-member Local Organising Committee inaugurated by Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Thursday, was responding on behalf of the Committee immediately after its Inauguration at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure, where the Deputy Governor, Barr. Agboola Ajayi stood in for Mr. Governor.
Members of the Local Organising Committee were: Kele Bolodeoku, Goke Jatuase, Oluranti Netufo and Oyelade Olanrewaju. Others were: SSAs to Mr. Governor on Oil and Gas, Investment, and Infrastructure as well as a representative each of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, and Ministry of Environment. The Secretary of OSOPADEC, Dr. Victor Koledoye, will serve as the Secretary of the Committee.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, representatives of Niger Delta Ministry, as well as other top ranking leaders and politicians particularly in the State including all the Board Members of OSOPADEC: Chief Bisi Ilawole, Hon. Olumide Ikuepenikan, Hon. Ikoto Atili, Hon. Igbekele Akinrinwa, Mrs. Atinuke Witherspoon and Surveyor Gabriel Ogbesetoro.
The National Council on Niger Delta comprises representation from all States of the Niger Delta, Federal Government, Ministries, Departments and Agencies. It serves as the main Consultative body for the implementation of the Niger Delta Action Plan and provides strategic guidance for the Multi-Stakeholder Trust Fund (MSTF).
The first meeting of the Council came up in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State capital, in 2013 where Ondo State was chosen to host the 2nd meeting.
