In the determination to checkmate the menace of water hyacinth and other water weeds, the Ondo State Government through the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission recently flagged off the emergency clearing of water weeds.
While flagging off the project the Chairman of OSOPADEC, Hon. Olugbenga Edema noted that the whole waterways in both Ilaje and Ese Odo Local Government Areas have been congested with waterweeds and this has impeded transportation and fishing capability of the people.
To fast-track the evacuation process of these water weeds, equipment for the evacuation process has been brought and the clearing will start from Alape junction through Ese Odo to the boundary of Edo and Delta States.
Hon. Olugbenga Edema also solicited the support and maximum cooperation of the people of the Community in ensuring the success of this project.
Reacting to the laudable project, the people of the Communities appreciated the State Government and suggested that the youths be involved in the clearing.
