OSOPADEC Boss urges armed youths In Niger-Delta Region Of Ondo State To Embrace Peace

The Chairman of OSOPADEC, Hon. (Barr.) Olugbenga Edema has charged the armed youths of the Niger-Delta region of Ondo State to embrace peace and shun violence.
He gave this charge while giving the vote of thanks at the event of the Official Proclamation of Amnesty for armed youths in the Niger-Delta areas of Ondo State by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He noted that without peace, there will be no chance for opportunities to abound in the Niger-Delta areas and also, there can be no meaningful development in these areas.
Hon. Edema tagged the programme “Arms for Amnesty”, meaning “one man one gun”.
He assured that the programme will be carried out in transparency, equity and fairness, adding that, whatever arm is brought will be profiled and necessary follow-up with benefits will be carried out.
The OSOPADEC Boss who doubles as a member of the Committee on State Amnesty Initiative, commended the Governor for his passion for the people of the Niger-Delta areas of the State and for his assistance in ensuring the possibility of the event.
In his remarks, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said that the present administration is focused and will continue to do their best to support the State.
He said further that all that is required of the armed youths is to surrender their arms to become better persons.
While giving a twenty one days deadline, Gov. Akeredolu urged these youth to take advantage of the programme and live a better life.
He stated that collection centres will be positioned at Igbekebo, Arogbo, Ugbo-nla, Ajapa and Igbokoda.
Also speaking at the event were; the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, also the Chairman, State Committee on Amnesty, Barr. Agboola Ajayi who gave the welcome address, Acting Governor of Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Utuaro, Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta, Major General Paul Boroh represented by Major Abdul (rtd.), Olugbo of Ugbo land, Oba (Dr.) Frederick Akinruntan, and the Brigade Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J. A Atakuba.
Present at the event were, Royal Fathers and Regents from all walks of Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Governments, Top Government officials and all Stakeholders of the Niger Delta areas.
