The Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will visit Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 to flag-off the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme known as “Ekiti-Kete School Meal”.
The venue of the programme is; St Michael Primary School, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti.
Under the initiative, pupils in primary one to primary three would be fed one free nutritious meal daily in all the public primary schools across the state.
The Ekiti-Kete School Meal is expected to improve pupils’ dietary status, increase school enrolment and provide employment opportunities for the youths and farmers in the state.
This brings back memories of similar primary school feeding programs back in the 70s in SouthWest Nigeria.
