ONDO NAWOJ BEGINS ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Ondo state chapter, has began its advocacy campaign against the abuse & violence against women & children.

To this end, the newly inaugurated executive council members of NAWOJ on Wednesday paid Advocacy visits to stakeholders in the protection of human rights.
The First port of call of the Pen Jewels was the office of the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mrs Hilda Ibifuro Harrison who berated the level of harmful tradition practices against women, rape & other forms of violence & abuse on the female gender.
She commended NAWOJ for rising up against the ugly trend & pledged her unalloyed support & readiness to partner with NAWOJ in terms of arrest & prosecution of culprits which will serve as deterent to others.

Chairman of the association, Mrs Sola Omotosho earlier, told the Commissioner that NAWOJ is out to provide all the protection humanly possible for women & children with the tool of the media as watchdog of the society but need the support of law enforcement agencies in achieving the aim.
Members of the association were also at the office of the Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN, where the chairman, Mrs Sola Omotosho, Solicited the cooperation of the ministry in terms of provision of free Litigation services for cases of abuse against women & children.

She also used the occasion to invite the general public to its inaugurated programme billed forTuesday the second of August, where a former National President of NAWOJ, Mrs Moji Makanjuola, will deliver a lecture on “Monetization of Politics, the role of the Media, while another Lecturer will speak on Women’s Participation in Politics.
Responding, the Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN assured NAWOJ of the readiness of the ministry, to provide Free legal services for issues that have to do with protection of the right of Women & children.
He also used the forum to break the long silence on his Governorship Ambition, saying he is in the race for three reasons, Economy, Economy & Economy.
