The Ondo State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, tagged: “Project development cooperation agreement”, with Dantata Solar Limited for the purpose of providing uninterrupted electricity supply for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
The MoU was facilitated by the Ondo State Government, while the technical expertise for the project will be undertaken by a German company under the Nigerian German partnership.
Speaking during the signing of the MoU at the Governor’s Office in Akure, Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), appreciated the cooperation between the Nigerian and the German government, the effect of which he said is trickling down for the benefit of Adekunle Ajasin University community.
This development, according to Arakunrin Akeredolu, will make other tertiary institutions in Nigeria to emulate Adekunle Ajasin University.
The governor, however, urged that such gesture should be extended to communities in riverrine area of the state.
The German Consular General, Mr. Ingo Herbert, who led the team, assured the Governor that the project would be completed within six months.
The Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, signed the MoU on behalf of the university, while Dantata’s project manager, Mr. Oyeneye Babajide, signed on behalf of the power company.
