Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has condemned the attack on the Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Odidiomo Ayowole describing it as unwarranted and an assault on the traditional stool.
The Governor’s condemnation was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information, Mr Yemi Olowolabi over the weekend.
Oba Odidiomo Ayowole was attacked by some hoodlums last week at Igbokoda while attending a family meeting leaving him brutalized.
“The Ondo State government condemns in strong term the attack on the monarch of Igbokoda, in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state, Oba Ayowole Odidiomo, by suspected hoodlums.
“The government views the attack as an unwarranted assault and a desecration of the exalted stool of the Igbokoda traditional monarchy in particular and the time-tested tradition of our forebears.
“Government will leave no stone unturned in its determination to ensure the protection of the lives and property of the citizens and has given directive to the security agencies in the state to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the people responsible for the attack on the monarch.
The government will also wish to make it known to all criminally-minded people that no part of the state is safe for them to operate any longer.
“It should be noted that Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has always shown respect for the traditional monarchy and will continue to protect the exalted stool”, the statement reads.
