The Ondo state government has reiterated its commitment towards safeguarding the lives of its citizens from all environmental hazards that can arise from building under heavy power distribution cables.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni stated this while on one of its routine inspection with the enforcement squad of the ministry at Ajeigboro area of Ondo road where a structure was sited under 133kva power distribution line and work still continued on the site despite several Contravention and Stop-Work notices earlier issued.
According to the Commissioner, the state government’s effort was not to witch-hunt anybody but to ensure safety of lives and properties by leaving adequate setback from the center of the power-line. This, he said ” will also ensure environmental sustainability of the distribution lines”.
Prince Amodeni ordered immediate seizure of all working tools and other materials found at site to serve as warning to the developer and as deterrent to other erring developers. On this note, he promised to intensify all efforts towards relieving the state of all contraventions and make the state livable and hazard free.
