Wife of Ondo governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has reassured Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs) in the state of her unalloyed support.
Mrs Akeredolu gave the assurance during an interactive section with Chief Executive Officers of women-led NGOs in Ondo State held in her office.
Mrs Akeredolu, who is also the founder of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, a non-profit NGO, recalled her earlier campaign promise to her colleagues and assured them of her resolve to fulfil it.
While commending the NGOs for the commitment to non-profit and often difficult services, Mrs Akeredolu said their role in government is invaluable.
Earlier in her speech, the coordinator of women- led NGOs in Ondo state, Mrs Esan Folake said the forum came on board to protect and promote the fundamental human rights of women in the state.
Mrs Folake further said that the formation of the forum was necessitated by the increasing rate of sexual abuse, marginalization, genital mutilation, and domestic violence against woman and appealed for government support in the area of collaborations and policy making.
The forum decorated Mrs Akeredolu as an active member and presented her with a complimentary award for selfless services.
