More chieftains and members of Peoples Democratic Party have continued to move in large numbers to the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ondo state as some chieftains and members of the PDP in Ondo East Local Government defected to APC on Monday.

The defection and reception ceremonies which took place at local government headquarters, Bolorunduro had the state chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin with some chieftains of the party including distinguished Senator Tayo Alasoadura on ground to receive them into the party.

Giving reasons for their defection, Hon. Yemisi Akinmade, who spoke on behalf of all defectors, alleged the PDP of destroying the future of youths in the nation for their personal aggrandisement.

He declared that they have come to join APC in winning all elective positions in all subsequent elections in the local government and state at large.

Akinmade charged other politicians in the local government who are still in dilemma of whether to defect to APC or not, saying APC is determined to fix the nation’s battered economy.

Receiving the defectors with their hundreds of followers, state chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin assured them of equal treatment, saying there is nothing like old members and new members.
He enjoined them to go and register with APC in their individual Wards, imploring them to begin to attend the Ward meeting of the party.

Adetimehin declared that he would soon begin to request for minutes of meetings of all wards to ensure serious grassroots consolidation of the party strength.

The defectors were described by the APC chairman in Ondo East local government, Orunbo Agboola Kelly as strong and tested politicians with good track records.

According to Kelly,  “Those decamping from PDP into our party are the pillars of the immediate past Dr. Olusegun Mimiko’s administration. Hon. Yemisi Akinmade is a former elected Chairman of our local government whose performance in office was generally adjudged excellent with enduring legacies like the Hon. Akinnifesi Memorial Civic Centre as one of them.”

Among other chieftains of PDP who defected are Hon. Wale Akinkuotu, a veteran politician and oil magnate, Engr.  Adedapo Adesemoye, founder of Adesemoye Unity Foundation, a philanthropist with empowerment programmes cutting across Ondo East and West Federal Constituency.

Among other party chieftains present at the event are state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, Chairman, Ondo East Local Government, Rafiu Akinkuolie, among others.
