The African Women Group (AWG), a non-governmental gender based organisation in Sydney Australia has celebrated its 10th year anniversary.

At the event, over 500 women across Africa and Australia were present. At the high heeled and well attended event were female high commissioners and members of The Australian parliament.

A major highlight of the celebration was the ”Pioneer Award” and ”Executive Award Treasurer 2015” presented to Mrs. Olayinka Obolo Fareo, a co-founder of the organisation, which has strived in the last ten years to project the social perspective of women relevance in Australia. The motive of the NGO is to support and help African women in Sydney,  Australia whether they are new arrivals, or have been here for a long time.

In a chat with OndoEvents, the awardee, Mrs. Olayinka Obolo Fareo noted that her passion is rooted in helping women overcome their challenges and seeing a woman feeling fulfilled brings out the best in her. She said she dedicated the award to all the downtrodden women of the world.

“We are always there to give needed support as we understand that everyone’s journey is different , we test people on individual basis and as per their needs” Olayinka Said.

”I am very much into the community here and I also manage and service one of the biggest NGOs with branches all over the world. I love what I do and I enjoy being part of the solution to women challenges,”

“I have recently registered and Started a group Egbe Omo Yoruba Australia, it’s going fantastically well, my husband is a Blessing in my life as he is always very supportive of my activities and that is where I get my Strength from” Fareo stressed.
