The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke has described the late Yoruba leader and foremost chieftain of the Afenifere, Chief Olaniwun Ajayi as a patriot and nationalist per excellence saying with his passage, another of our bright stars has been dimmed.

Chief Oke in a condolence message issued by the Chairman of Media and Publicity of his Campaign Organization, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi noted that the late Ajayi, who he described as one of the last titans of the Awolowo ideals was till the end, a patriot whose progressivism was never tainted till he breathed his last.
The statement reads in part, “Chief Olaniwun Ajadi was an epitome of steadfastness whose titanic fight and support for the struggle for the emancipation of the Yoruba race was unparalleled. He was a nationalist, a Pan Africanist and a democrat of no mean repute.
“We are aware of Papa’s role in laying the foundation of Nigeria as one of the nationalists who fought for our independence from our colonial overlords.
“And as a foremost chieftain of the Afenifere, his efforts towards giving the Yoruba race a pride of place cannot be waved aside. And we as the inheritors of his ideals and legacies will sorely miss him as we would have loved to continue to sip from the fountain of his knowledge and seek his counsels for many years to come.
” We therefore wish to commiserate with members of his family, the Afenifere and all Nigerians on the demise of this great man. May God give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
