Olabintan 60th Birthday: Gov. Akeredolu enjoins indigenes to contribute to Ondo State development
The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Saturday, enjoined well-meaning indigenes to support and contribute to the development of the Ondo State Correctional Home.
Akeredolu made this known during the 60th birthday celebration of former Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Victor Olabintan at the Ondo State Correctional Home in Akure.
The Governor lamented on the poor dilapidated state of the children’s home and appealed to we’ll meaning Nigerians to assist in restoring the home to its former glory.
“Olabintan has done something unique by renovating the recreational place for the children. He could have hosted this party in his house instead, he chose to afford them the opportunity to share with people.
“We all need to emulate him because he didn’t think of himself alone, but also the children who are less privileged. Let’s give these children shelter and help in giving them a better life,” he said.
Earlier, Hon Victor Olabintan, former Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, enjoined the wealthy people in society not to neglect the children because they were less privileged.
“This fanfare could have been at the Dome, but the fact is that these ones are the down-trodden of the earth.”
“I brought this celebration here to alert the general public, particularly the well-to-do in society, that there are people who need our assistance in whatever way.
“Government alone cannot cater for the needs of the society, so we need to contribute in any little way.
“These down-trodden children today can be the light of society tomorrow, and they will be proud that they are recognised and cared for,” he said.
Speaking to newsmen, former State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairperson, Princess Oladunnni Odu, described the celebrant as a humane person with a lot of emotion.
“He believes in serving society to leave it better than before. He has helped a lot of women through empowerment.
“To these children, he has given hope and encouragement to make them better citizens in the future,” she said.
Also speaking, Ondo State Deputy Governor, Arakunrin Agboola Ajayi, commended him impacting positively in the lives of people of the State.
“We all appreciate him and glorify God for sustaining him and we all pray that God will grant him sound health to celebrate more years”, he stated.
Speaking with Journalists at the ceremony, former Commissioner for Finance in the State, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, described Olabimtan as a man through whom God has accomplished a lot.
“He is a man of integrity, very purposeful about life. He is a blessing, not only to the Akokos, but to Ondo State in general. He gas impacted on lots of lives and for every position he has held in his life, it has been a life of service and of impact”
“Honestly, I believe God is still going to use him more in the area of service to humanity and He will continue to use him for positive impact in the lives of people who Hod brings his way”, he submitted.
