The control and enforcement unit of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development moved to Owo GRA to demolish an illegal structure on an approved layout road that connects another private layout behind the GRA, thereby blocking an access road, after serving  all necessary enforcement  notices.

The Honourable Commissioner for the ministry, Prince Solagbade Amodeni, speaking from his office said the demolished structure contravened the Urban and Regional planning decree 88 of 1992, and section 9 and 17(7) of Ondo state building and subdivision regulations, 1984, an offense punishable under the same section of the law.

Prince Amodeni noted that Government Reserved Area (GRA) is one of the cherished government ‘s scheme in Ondo state and must not be bastardized by contraveners. The demolition exercise, he believed, will serve as deterrent to other contraveners as it won’t be business as usual again.

Townplanner Alonge Z.O who led the team advised the people to endeavor to comply with townplanning rules and regulations. He encouraged all to bring their building plans to the townplanning authority for approval, and when there issues, plan owners will be professionally advised on what to do to get approval. For the fact that you own the land does not give you total freedom to build anyhow on it, he concluded

Townplanner Amodu I. E, who was also at the scene of the demolition said the GRA is a model in the state where law of planning and building is strictly followed.
