Nursing and Midwifery Council commends Ondo Govt over merger of State Nursing Schools with UNIMED

The Ondo State Government has been commended by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, (NMCN) over its approval of the absorption of the state-owned Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Akure and Ondo by the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo.

A letter of commendation addressed to the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN and signed by the Secretary General/ Registrar of the Council, Alhaji Faruk Umar Abubakar, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, described the move by UNIMED to establish a Faculty of Nursing Sciences as heartwarming to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

While assuring the State Government of its desire to work harmoniously with it at making excellence the hallmark of  Nursing Education and Practice in the state, NMCN also informed Governor Akeredolu of the resolution of the Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria at its 43rd General Meeting of the upgrade of the State School of Nursing and Midwifery to a College of Nursing.

It will be recalled that the State Executive Council recently approved the affiliation of the State’s Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Akure and Ondo to the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo.
