The Ondo State Chapter of NDYM on Sunday staged a peaceful protest over the appointment of Mr Olatokunbo Ajasin as one of the board members of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) just nominated NDDC.
They argued that Mr Ajasin was from Owo and not from the oil producing areas of the state.
OndoEvents reports that the youths in their multitude staged the peaceful protest on the street that lead to the NDDC office in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area.
While addressing the director in charge of the state office, the president of the NDYM comrade Agbejoye Adetoye expressed displeasure over the nomination made by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The nomination of Ajasin is an error because he is not from the oil producing areas of the state and we reject his nomibation.
“We urge the senate to halt the screening and confirmation of Ajasin and follow the act that established the NDDC.,” he said.
In related development,the coalition of NIGER-DELTA youths also urged the government and the Senate to follow due process in order not cause disaffection among the people of the state.
While addressing the youths, the director in charge of the state office of the commission Engr Audu, urged the youths to maintain peace and order as necessary steps would be taken to address the issue.
