An Ondo city based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI) has come to the aid of one Master Timilehin Yinusa, a 200 Level Medicine and Surgery Student of University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo.
Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the premises of the university Ondo city, the founder of the organisation, who is also a medical doctor, Mrs. Rhoda Makinde, said her organisation decided to assist the beneficiary due to his brilliancy and performance at the Post University Matriculation Examination conducted by the institution in 2016/2017 academic session.
She explained further that the beneficiary who is an indigene of Ondo city is currently with the GPA of 4.61. Noted that her organisation was contacted when the beneficiary was on the verge of dropping out when the parents could not afford his school fees for the 2017/2018 academic session.
While admonishing the beneficiary not to rest on his oar by continue to excel in his academic pursuit, explained that her organisation decided to assist him after a letter requesting for financial support was sent to the office of the organisation in Ondo city.
According to her, “A letter of request for financial support was sent to Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI) office in Ondo city, Due to the urgency and critical situation of the case, the DROMI team met and approved the request and wrote a cheque in favour of Mr. Timilehin Yinusa, which was presented at the office of the Dean Student Affairs of the school.
Also speaking during the presentation of the cheque, the Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Friday Okonofua, who was represented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Yemisi Jeff-Agboola, appreciated DROMI for the timely intervention.
The UNIMED Vice-chancellor explained that the University will continue to maintain high degree in academic performance.
