In SURVIVORS, Her Excellency Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, Wife of the Governor of Ondo State and Founder of BRECAN recounts her Breast Cancer survival story – a story which now spans two decades of breast cancer advocacy.
Her story is a huge source of inspiration and hope to many women grappling with the challenge of Breast cancer in Nigeria. SURVIVORS tells the story of these other women, breast cancer survivors who have now found their voices and have taken a cue from Mrs Akeredolu by speaking out and sharing their stories.
At its core, SURVIVORS is a film about the power of courage and faith in the midst of daunting adversity, of the efficacy of our voices as instruments for social change, of the dynamic power of taking action. Underlying the narrative is that timeless mantra, that breast cancer is not a death sentence, that surviving breast cancer is possible and that early detection makes all the difference.
