Mrs Akeredolu Tasks Wives of Appointees to be Proactive in Their Performance
The wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has charged Wives of Government Appointees to be proactive in their respective local governments in order to drive home the impact of change which the Akeredolu government is known for. She made this assertion while receiving chairpersons of the 18 local government areas of Ondo State led by the wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olajumoke Abegunde.
According to her, Wives of Government Appointees have a major role to play in ensuring that women in their respective domain understand the importance of basic sanitation, dangers of filthiness in the market places and must be ready to stand out to educate other women on the menace of girl child mutilation among others.
While noting that the visit was timely, she charged the women to be ready to work hard as it would take serious hard work to stand out and be different.
Her words: “It is good that I know all of you in person – it’s a good start. It is politics that has brought us together and it is politics of change. It is not a politics of ‘chop chop’ –if we are really serious about being different, there is going to be a lot of hard work” “This is a government that recognizes that you have a role to play – How about educating women in your domain about basic sanitation; dangers of genital mutilation– We must do something about filthiness in the markets. It might be that there is no water there or the refuse disposal is not well managed – it is your responsibility to call the attention of your husband’s”, she added.
Mrs. Akeredolu who used the opportunity to talk about ‘Be More’ initiative targeted at every woman in Ondo State noted that the purpose of the project is to network women and be able to reach every woman in Ondo state with the right opportunity.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the team, Mrs. Ayande Oluwadoyin thanked Arakunrin and Arabirin Akeredolu for the opportunity to serve noting that they will remain solidly behind all the programmes and initiatives of the government.
