Mrs Akeredolu foundation graduates 400 girls on ICT, Solar technology, gives 400 laptops amidst glamour

It was celebration galore amidst glamour as BEMORE Empowered Foundation, an organisation of Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of Ondo State governor,  graduated no fewer than 400 school girls on solar technology, ICT and life enhancing skills with a laptop being given to them.

In this year edition, 400 girls, camped for two weeks, at the Ondo State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI) and  Elizade University , Ilara Mokin, came to an end on Saturday.

The girls were selected from different secondary schools.

The closing ceremony of the 2018 BEMORE Summer Bootcamp held at the FUTA New Auditorium, Akure.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs Akeredolu said that she was convinced that all hurdles were being overcome to become one of the greatest countries soon.

“I have never been more hopeful of a better Nigeria than this moment, seeing 400 girls ready to change our story and make us more visible on the world map.”

“In a fast paced world driven by technology, the only way for a nation to catch up is to have leaders who are themselves technologically inclined,” she stated.

The Ondo State First Lady noted that her foundation was building the next generation of complete leaders who would be technologically proficient, health aware and highly skilled entrepreneurs.

According to her, the trained girls are set to defy and leapfrog all obstacles in ensuring the Nigerian flag stands tall in G20 summit.

She encouraged the trainees to make use of instructions taught in the course of their training in overcoming challenging times.

Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu added that they were generation being looked upon to glide Nigeria to a glorious shore of its success and manifestation, saying they must build a formidable network of change agents.

The First Lady appreciated all who contributed in no small way to ensure the success of the 2018 BEMORE Summer Boot Camp 4 Girls Naija, adding that they were pillars of development that would be proud of.

Also speaking, Barrister Agboola Ajayi, the state Deputy Governor, applauded the foundation for its laudable programme aimed to build confidence on young girls in ruling their world.

Similarly, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the wife of Governor-Elect in Ekiti State, said the programme was the outstanding gesture meted towards the girls by the First Lady of Ondo State.

Mrs Fayemi tasked the girls to see themselves lucky and privileged unlike her that attained age 25 before she first had access to computer.

She said that she would replicate similar initiative in Ekiti State after her husband was sworn in as the state come October 16.

According to her, Nigeria cannot develop if she does not adopt new ways of doing things for younger generation,saying the girls should not to relent.

In his remarks, Mr Olusoya Amosun of the Lead Microsoft Nigeria said that he was touched by the initiative.

Amosun opined that the girls would always remember Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu for good, saying effort such like this could close gap between boys and girls.

He promised to continue to support the programme, saying his organisation would select some of the girls for higher training.

Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, Olubaka of Oka Akoko. said it was the right step for building formidable country and appreciated the governor’s wife.

Appreciating the governor’s wife on behalf of other participants’ parents, Mrs Fola Arifayan, called Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu a mother indeed, praying that God would be her helper.

Five girls were each given N25,000 for their outstanding performance on different segments while a set of five girls got solar panels for their excellent work on solar and ICT.

Pastor Akin Asaniyan, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Education, gave out sum of N50,000 to the best girl in the training camp,Miss Jerry Bosola, a SS1 student, as well as N50,000 every year through her first degree education.

Other dignitaries present were: Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun, Wife of Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Mrs Ajewole Agboola, Mr Gbenga Edema, the Chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Honourable Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Ondo State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), HRM Oba (Dr) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, the Olubaka of Oka Akoko and his Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, Mrs Toyin Adeyemi, the Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on Woman Affairs among others.
