Mrs. Akeredolu Continues ABR Plus Sensitization In Ondo West, Idanre

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu today continued her sensitization tour to Ondo West and Idanre Local Government areas where she emphasized the importance of birth registration saying such data is strategic to government’s planning.
Addressing stakeholders, Mrs. Akeredolu who was ably represented by her Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Mrs. Tope Daniyan congratulated the Local Government for being a part of the six areas selected to benefit across the state.
According to her, the programme will last a period of three months and the success depends on the cooperation of all and sundry, thus the need for stakeholders to encourage their people to participate fully in the programme.

The State Director of National Population Commission, Mr. Yemi Falusi in his charge, restated that lots of births have not been registered and there is the need to have such identification in order to be able to process admission and travel processes.
While encouraging stakeholders to mobilize their people to register births when the programme commences, Mr. Falusi said the programme is free and accessible to children between ages 0-17.
On the essence of the programme, the Coordinator, ABR Plus, Mr. Ife Awoyelu said the programme was conceptualized to bridge gaps in communities identified to have low records of birth registration.
While expressing hope that the three months programme will boost records of birth in the area, Mr. Awoyelu called for support towards its success.

In his remark, Dr. Samuel Abiona from the Ondo State Primary Health Care Board while also affirming the importance of birth registration said the programme does not in any way replace certificates issued at the local government level but is necessary for identifications beyond the shores of the state.
Also speaking, Dr. Mrs. Yetunde Olagbuji, Director, Planning and Statistics from the state Primary Health Care Board said the people should take advantage of the programme and register both new and old births in order to be able to access a wide range of opportunities.
Responding, Olori Comfort Kilade, wife of the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom enjoined the people to embrace the programme saying registration of births is fundamental to developing a community.
She also promised the support of the people towards the success of the programme.
Earlier, the Chairman, Ondo West, Hon. Bar. Adewale Adelakun said his local government which is very peaceful will embrace the programme and ensure its success in the local government.
In her own remark, the Chairperson Idanre Local Government, Mrs. Emily Akinsuli, said the local government is indeed grateful to be selected as a beneficiary. She also applauded the various initiatives of the government towards improving the life of the people.
Princess Aroloye, Iyaloja, Odode used the opportunity to applaud Mrs. Akeredolu’s sincerity of purpose in the proposed implementation of the project.
