The programme was specifically organised for women members, because, according to wife of the law maker, Princess (Mrs) Folukemi Omogbehin, was to make it a double edged dagger; one to thank them for their support during the campaign and election of her husband and two, to give them the opportunity to celebrate the fruit of their labour (successful election of Omogbehin).
In her address, Mrs Omogbehin who showered appreciations and praises on God and the women declared that they (the women) had laboured and that it is certain that they reap the fruits of their labour.
“I sincerely thank Almighty God for my husband’s success. I sincerely thank all the women in our two local governments for your supports. But for your efforts, there will be nothing to celebrate today”.
“I want you to pardon me for not having the opportunity to come and say a very big ‘thank you’ to you before now, it is due to the bulk of work in my office,” she explained.
She went on: “Some people may complain that ‘the woman is arrogant because she has not come and say thank you since we laboured for her husband and he succeeded’, the truth is what I have just told you. I had been so much occupied in my office and now that I have the time to come, please accept me and believe that there will be no communication gap from now,” she appealed.
Princess (Mrs) Omogbehin assured that the Member of House of Representatives will surely do all that he promised during his electioneering campaign because; ‘he is a man of his words’ She prayed that whatever he promised and unable to do, God will help him to fulfil.
“My mothers and sisters, please bear with whatever he is able to do now. Many of you here are aware that there were a lot of challenges before, during and after the election.
‘’But all Glory to God that he stood out triumphant above all odds,” she appreciated.
She pointed out to the gathering that women have been empowered by God by making them great, urging them not to look down on themselves.
Mrs Omogbehin, just like her husband, never starts anything without seeing to its successful conclusion or promise what she could not actualise.
She therefore promised to visit all the wards in the areas and meet with the women henceforth, making life worth living for them as much as she can.
Newly appointed Secretary to the Local ( SLG), Irele Local Government, Chief (Mrs) Adesida praised PDP males in the constituency for counting women worthy, informing that she was recently appointed into her new position by leaders in the area, a development she described as first of its kind and magnanimous on the part of the male PDP leaders.
She therefore called on all the women present not to relent their efforts in working for the party as their rewards await them.
Also speaking, Mrs Mosunmola Awotula, a.k.a Iron Lady who informed that she has just been appointed as a Special Adviser to Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Political Mobilisation urged her colleagues to work hard as the time of each and every one of them awaits her, informing that a teenager, Miss Blessing Omotayo was recently appointed as an Adviser on Political Affairs in Irele Local Government.
Lolo Ukeria Adimba, Ibo Women Leader was also appointed as Adviser to the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Pastor Yele Omogunwa, it was gathered.
Some of the women at the occasion included wife of Irele Local Government Chairman, Mrs Aladesanmi Elumaro, Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Akala (Okitipupa I), Mrs Ufoma Adebusoye (Igbotako I), Mrs Taye Lijoka (Irele I), Mrs Bimpe Oyekan (Ilutitun I), Mrs Victoria Olumeko (Okitipupa III) and Mrs Caroline Idebi (Aye II).
