It was fanfare and exciting moment recently in Okitipupa town, as one of the oldest secondary school in Ondo state, Methodist High School Okitipupa celebrated the 56th edition of the annual inter-house athletic sport competition.

The event which was attended by old boys of the aged-long secondary school, sport lovers within and outside Okitipupa as well officials from the Ondo State ministry of Youths and Sports as well as students from other secondary schools in the area.

In his address delivered on the occasion, the Principal of the school, Mr. Boboye Akinnusi, described the ceremony as another landmark events to be celebrated in the history of the school. While welcoming people to the annual athletic sport competition, he disclosed that competition was targeted towards discovery talents among the students of the school.

The Principal also used the occasion to pay a glowing tribute to the Chairman of the occasion, Bar. Jide Akinsola, for honouring the invitation of his almar mater. He described him as a school teacher per excellent, a father and a legal luminary who he said has excel in his chosen carrier.

While thanking parents, guardians as well as friends of the school over what he described as their supports, devotion and commitments towards various development witnessed in the school in the last few years.

Speaking further on the annual inter-house athletic sport competition, the Principal explained that students will be competing in various sporting activities which he mentioned to include, relay competition, field and track events, sack race, egg race as well as other events aimed at entertaining the spectators.

Going through memory lane, the Principal of the Methodist High School Okitipupa disclosed that the school has produced a total of 85,180 old students since it was created in the year 1956. He explained that the old students scattered all over the country have excel in their various field of endeavours and contributing their quotas to the development of Ondo State and the country at large.

He called on them to continue in assisting the school in tackling some of the challenges facing the school, so that the school would continue to maintain his number one position among schools in the southern senatorial district of the state.

Earlier in his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of the occasion who is also an Alumni of the school, Bar. Jide Akinsola, resented by his wife Mrs. Tope Akinsola, congratulated the school over the annual athletic sporting competition.

He reiterated his readiness and other Alumni of the school towards its development, also commended teaching and non-teaching staff of the school towards the success of the annual event.

The legal luminary however promised to continue to assist the school and support its development so that the school would continue to maintain its number one position in the state.

At the end of the whole competition, green and blue houses came first and second respectively, while yellow house tray behind and was given third position, red house also came last as fourth position.

The event held at the school sports ground in Okitipupa town, featured several sporting activities, which include, inter-house match past, inter-house and school relay among secondary schools in the area, field events, delivery of goodwill messages as well as dancing competition among others.
