Mammoth crowd greets Roadshow for Eyitayo Jegede (SAN)
The popularity and acceptance of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got a boost yesterday as mammoth crowd trooped out at the road show in honour of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
Speaking during the road show, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Ondo State, Mr Banji Okunomo commended the good people of Ondo State for the impressive turn out during the road show.
Okunomo said the party had organised the road show shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pasted the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as the authentic candidate of the PDP along with 27 other candidates of other political parties in the November 26, 2016 governorship election.
According to him: “The crowd that heralded Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) was mammoth, unprecedented and commendable despite the fact that no special announcement was made in respect of the road show.
“The party believes that the people’s good will, love and support for Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) prompted the massive attendance at the road show
“The incredible crowd of yesterday is a further attestation that the PDP has made a popular choice in the candidacy of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN)
“Such an electrifying crowd indicates that the party has not only made the best decision, it also shows that the party considered the interest of the masses before settling for the choice of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
“There is no question about the fact that Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) would render the best of humanitarian service to the people of Ondo state.
“Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) represents the modern Ondo State which is characterised by urbanisation, modernisation, development and transformation.
“The candidacy of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) is not only a paradigm for positive change, it would also guarantee the consolidation and continuation of the good policies of government.
“Apart from guaranteed continuation of good governance, the choice of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as the next governor of Ondo State would eliminate blame games and complaints from any quarters.
“This would help prevent a replication of the problems that we now have at the federal level where, one and a half years after it came into power, the APC still does not have a good grasp of governance.
“Rather than settle down to good governance, the APC keeps blaming the government it took over power from for its misfortune”, he said.
In a related development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 56th independence anniversary of the country.
In its Independence Day message, the PDP through its Publicity Secretary expressed hope for a better Nigeria.
The PDP called on Nigerians to be jubilant and appreciative to God for keeping the nation together despite all odds.
The party called on the APC led federal government not to do things that would make Nigeria remember the pre-colonial era.
