Kolade Akinjo empowers over 500 Ilaje/Ese-Odo constituents with Items worth N30m
Over 500 indegenes of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State on Friday in Igbokoda benefitted from Hon. Kolade Akinjo, Member House of Representatives empowerment items worth N30 million.
OndoEvents reports that the materials includes several motorcycles, fishing nets, fertilizers, batteries and tyres, sewing, grinding and vulganising machines and cash award of N20,000, N25,000 and N30,000 respectively.
Some of the beneficiaries includes students, aged, youths, market women, commercial drivers and motorcyclists, physically challenged, churches, mosques, People”s Democratic Party (PDP) faithfuls and supporters.
Hon. Akinjo told journalists that the decision to empower his people was to rid off poverty at the grassroots and to recognise the people as the oxygen of democracy.
He also said that he needed to give back to the society who supported his dream of representing the constituencyat the green chamber.
“If our nation must grow to the height of our collective dream, we must grow our democracy and our people too.”
“If party democracy must make meaning, it must be seen as fighting poverty anchored on clear economic growth, correlated with productive employment for the people,” he said.
While presenting the materials to the beneficiaries, he urged them to utilise them well for their well being and to the glory of God.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with OndoEvents expressed their gratitude to Hon. Akinjo, promising to make good use of the materials and urged other politicians to emulate him.
Princess Stella Nana who was given legislative recognition award with N25,000 cash said she very happy saying that her support for PDP and Akinjo was not in vain.
Miss Remilekun Ayadi, a student who was given N20,000 cheque said the education support would be a great relieve to his parents saying God would bless Hon. Akinjo.
His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lawrence Omowole, the Amapetu of Mahin Kingdom and Imperial Majersty Oba Fedrick Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom led the packs of traditional rulers at the occassion.
Also the newly elected chairmen of Ilaje and Ese- Odo Local Government Areas, Mr Agunola Omomowo and Mr Timi Sobijoh respectively and other political stalwarts in the local government areas were present.
Others are Hon. Banji Okunomo, the state’s PDP Publicity Secretary, Hon. Otito Atikase, Special Assistant to Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, Chief Debo Ajimuda, former Chairman, OSOPADEC and host of others.
