Governor Akeredolu says entrepreneurial programme of NYSC; a boost to self-actualisation of Corpers

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has described the skill acquisition programme of the National Youth Service Corps as a creative initiative at enhancing the capacities of graduates to be self- reliant and efficient.

Speaking during a courtesy visit  by the Ondo State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Sunday Aroni, the State Governor said the skill acquisition programme for corp members was a welcome development that would productively engage them in the absence of government jobs.

Governor Akeredolu who also commended efforts of corp members serving in the state health facilities for working tirelessly at complementing the health-care delivery programe of the State Government, promised to assist at reshaping some of the dilapidating structures at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikare.

Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Aroni had commended the vision of the governor at advancing the course of the state through agriculture and industrialisation.

Mr Aroni said because of lack facilities only 8400 corp members could have their compulsory youth service in the state in a year. He therefore appealed for assistance to enable the state benefit from the graduate service scheme.

He maintained that the NYSC has carried out several projects especially in the area of health, agriculture and other community development service which have imparted positively on the wellbeing of people in rural communities of the state.

“Presently, we are carrying out health initiatives for rural dwellers. In Ikare, we intend to carry out the second quarter campaign where medical personnel would he deployed in large numbers to the villages where they will render services to the villagers.

The NYSC State Coordinator added  that some Wheel Chairs would be distributed to indigent handicapped persons within the communities during the health campaign and promised to do more in subsequent quarters of the year.
