Ondo state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Thursday, 23rd August 2018 received a platinum award as the Ondo state Engineering man of the year.
Governor Akeredolu was presented with the award by the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) Akure branch.
Presenting the award, the Chairman of the body in Akure, Engr. Oloruntoba Abe said the award was in recognition of the Governor’s effort towards the infrastructural development of the state within his short time in office.
The association equally appreciated the Governor for appointing some of its own as members of the state cabinet and permanent secretary.
Engr. Abe described the governor’s drive to initiate mini grid in cluster areas in the state as a welcome development which signifies his commitment to the infrastructural development of the state by all means.
Responding, Governor Akeredolu who noted that no government can function effectively without engineers stressed that they remain indispensable to the growth of the society.
Akeredolu expressed gratitude to the body for the honour done him and stressed that he will cherish it for life.
He added that a number of projects carried out since he assumed office is through the the help of engineers whose impact cannot be overemphasized.
The governor maintained that he will ensure qualified engineers in government establishments occupies position based on merit and will ensure training and retraining of engineers in MDAs among other requests by the NSE chairman will remain paramount.
