In fulfilment of his promise to pay the salary of workers in the state as and when due, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has paid the salary of workers for the month ending – May 31st, 2017.

On many occasions the Governor has vowed to prioritise the payment of salary of workers provided there’s fund. Last two weeks, some mischief makers were desperate to blackmail the Governor on the payment of salary arrears. They lied that the governor was begging the workers to forgo their salaries. Today, the Governor has been vindicated. Workers have started receiving alerts for the payment of the month ending, May.

Governor Akeredolu is determined to bring the dividends of democracy to the people. This he has said many a time for those who care to listen. On one occasion, the Governor said ” we would pay arrears of salary even if that’s the only thing we can do “, he said.

For record purposes, this the fifth time Governor Akeredolu would pay workers’ in less than hundred days in office.

Our correspondent spoke to petty traders who urged the public servants to go and pay their debts in return. ” Many of the workers are owning debts in the market here, because they came to collect food items from us pledging that they would pay us whenever they get alerts. Now, we heard that Arakunrin
is paying salary regularly they must come and pay us the debts”, she said.
