Ondo State has again been described as the potential strength of Nigeria with diverse resources for geometric development.

Welcoming the Participants of Course 26 of National  Defence College Abuja,to Ondo State in his office, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, said the Sunshine State is so called in view of its numerous endowments in mineral resources,  vegetations, tourism potentials, iconic contributions of some citizens of the state in some sectors.

While assuring that Ondo State has quite a lot for the Participants to understudy to enrich their respective knowledge acquisition frontier, Governor Akeredolu said the contributions of the National Defence College at securing and building the Nigerian nation are worthy of commendations.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said the commitments of participants to the College’s study programmes over the years have been evident in their workplace assignments.

The  governor specifically noted with satisfaction the recent security feats recorded against some criminally minded miscreants by the coordinated efforts of the Police and other Security agencies in Ondo State who interestingly were past course participants of the National Defence College, Abuja.

Earlier the Team Leader, Air Commodore Sunday Makinde had said the Participants of Course 26 of Nigerian Defence College, Abuja were in Ondo State on a Geo-strategic Study Tour with particular emphasis on Youth Empowerment and National Development: Issues and Prospects.

He said the National Defence College is the highest military training college in Nigeria with the mandate of training strategic officers from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police and senior civil servants from some Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

He lauded  the State Government on its five Cardinal Programmes of Action with the acronym JMPPR which he said would accelerate development using a Strategic Governance approach with an integrated Measurement and Evaluation module to aggregate performance of government.

Air Commodore Makinde expressed delight at the vision of the authorities of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko on its entrepreneurial programme for students of the University.

He believed that in no distant future critical challenges of the nation in the area of unemployment, insecurity and infrastructural deficit would ease significantly.

Of the 13 participants visiting Ondo State, there are four Army Officers, two Naval Officers,  two Airforce Officers, One Police, one from the Foreign Affairs, one Military Officer from Mali and one from Malawi.

Dignitaries on the Governor’s Team at the event include: the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi; Secretary to the State Government, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde; Head of Service, Oluwatoyin Akinkuotu, Esq; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Honourable Commissioner for Information, Mr Yemi Olowolabi; Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr Funso Esan and Acting Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Services, Mr Gbenga Elewuju.
