First rain in the year 2018 has wrecked havoc at Emure-Ile in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State with over fifty houses including places of worship, residences and the old palace of the community king affected.
According to residents of the town, the rain which lasted forty minutes came with devastating storm that blew off roofs of the houses.
Areas worst hit areas include : Odooja , Agoebira, Awolowo, Suurulere, Segun Ojo and Unaun streets where roofing and electric polls with cables littered everywhere.
Some affected residents including Miss Blessing Gabriel and the community Youth Leader, Mr Sola Ogunmolasuyi described the incident as a disaster and therefore pleaded with the State Government to come to their aid.
Expressing shock at the incident, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN sympathised with the people and promised that the State Government would provide the affected victims with relief materials by next week.
While thanking God that no life was lost in the incidence, Governor Akeredolu reiterated his administration’s determination to continually assist the people especially during distress.
The Elemure of Emure-Ile, Oba Adedubaje Adeyefa who was on hand to welcome the governor to the town during the sympathy visit, appreciated the governor for the prompt intervention noting that the affected landlords would continue to remember his humane disposition.
The Secretary to the State Government, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale accompanied the governor on the sympathy visit.
