Gov. Akeredolu, Participants at Cabinet Retreat expressed optimism on better delivery of services in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has expressed his administration’s readiness to give attention to recommendations of the communiqué issued at the Ondo State Cabinet Retreat, 2018.

Governor Akeredolu gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of a 2-day retreat held in Owo with the Theme “Blueprint To Progress –Delivering on the Development Agenda of Ondo” organised by the State Government for Cabinet Members, Political Appointees, top echelon of the bureaucracy including the Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen of statutory bodies, state boards and corporations; Directors General, General Managers and Chief Executive Officers of Agencies / Parastatals.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said that the outcomes of the retreat would engender a change in attitude of public office holders in the state with a view to further impacting positively on the lives of the people.

The governor who added that ethics and value reorientation would henceforth be the hallmark of their services to the people, expressed delight that the participants were leaving with renewed vigour to put to practice all the acquired thoughts and strategies for better service delivery.

“I want to thank my colleagues in cabinet for your active participation. The Deputy Governor and I have listened to the Owo Declaration and I thank you on his behalf for rededicating yourself to service to our people.”

“Our administration will give deep attention all the details of the recommendations that you have clearly spelt out in the communiqué.”

“The central theme for me is ethics and value reorientation. Our administration knows fully well that all the participants are leaving with the vigour to follow new ways of impacting service delivery.”

“I want to believe we are leaving here as changed persons. It is hoped that by Monday there would be remarkable improvement in the manner service is delivered in this state.”

” I hope my colleagues in cabinet will change their attitude just as the Permanent Secretaries and others would change their attitude. I give my pledge that I will also change my attitude”, the governor said.

Commenting on the successful outcome of the retreat, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said it was a fallout of the right choice of Scholars and seasoned Administrators led by the pioneer Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, BPSR, Dr Goke Adegoroye; the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress Restructuring Committee, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi; Dr Tukur Bello Ingawa, OON, mni; Mr Japh Nwosu OON; former Editor, Abuja Newsday Mr Martins Oloja and a former Commissioner in Ondo State, Dr. Yemi Mahmud.

Earlier, the participants have issued a rededicating statement to excellence service delivery and commitment to ideological reorientation in line with the Mission and Vision of the present administration encapsulated in its 5-Cardinal Programmes and enunciated in the Blueprint to Progress.

The participants in their statement codenamed ‘’Owo Declaration’’, , vowed to align themselves with the vision of the Governor and his Deputy as well as put the welfare and security of the people of Ondo State as the focal point of the Development Agenda.

The declaration which was read by the State Finance Commissioner, Mr Wale Akinterinwa stated that the participants would rely on the Blueprint to Progress, to unlock the potentials of the people and trigger rapid development and transformation of the Sunshine State.

“We rededicate ourselves and those under our supervision to the value of patriotism, honesty, hard work and diligence, merit and excellence, trust worthiness, personal discipline, tolerance and mutual respect, justice and fairness, love, care and compassion.

“We pledge to eschew corruption, slothfulness, nepotism, indiscipline, bitterness, prejudice and other manifestations of anti-social behaviours”, they pledged.

They also promised to pursue always, all measures to reinvent governance processes, procedures and systems in compliance with the 21st century best practices where the discipline of execution will not suffer reverses in the state.

“We pledge to eschew partisan politics and all actions capable of lowering the esteem of the Civil Service and Government of Ondo State”

“We commit to provide quality leadership required to motivate the Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Department and Agencies (MEDAs) of Government towards Sustainable Development Agenda.

“We vowed to constantly consult, collaborate and cooperate with one another in pursuit of excellence and actualization of the Ondo State Development Agenda.

“We promise to eschew mediocrity in service delivery and commit to learn, relearn and unlearn in line with the requirements of the 21st century knowledge age”, the resolution affirmed.

The retreat Moderator,Dr Goke Adegoke had on behalf of the Resource Persons appreciated the Retreat Chairman who is also the State Governor and his Deputy the opportunity to bring to bear their experience at the programme.
