The Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, says the success of a nation largely depends on its justice, education and policing systems.
The Governor who spoke while playing host to the Justice Sector Reform Team (JSRT,) led by Honourable Justice Yemi Akintan-Osadebay said no efforts can be too much at ensuring sound and fare justice system.
Arakunrin Akeredolu expressed optimism that members of JSRT, would work so hard to strengthen easy delivery of justice at the same time protect the fundamental rights of citizens towards ensuring sound justice system .
The governor said despite the current paucity of funds the State Government would assist the team to enable it achieve its aims for the good of the state.
Earlier the Ondo State Coordinator of the Justice Sector Reform Team, Honourable Justice Yemi Akintan-Osadebay had informed the governor that the decision to establish the Justice Sector Reform Team across the 36 states of the federation was influenced by the European Union for the purpose of bringing all key stakeholders in justice delivery process together at attaining speedy, fair and sound justice system.
The Coordinator who used the opportunity to intimate the governor with the membership composition of JSRT in Ondo State spoke of plans to set-up referral centres for data collation of crimes bordering on rights’ violations of citizens particularly children, girls and women.
Some of the stakeholders who accompanied the Coordinator on the visit include, the Commissioner of Police Mrs Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison; State Controller of Nigeria Prisons Service, Mr Kinane Suanu; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Funmilayo Osundolire and the Director Public Prosecution, Mrs Funmilayo Tuki.
