Following the inauguration of the board of the State Universal Basic Education, the policy thrusts of the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led Administration at the Primary School level have emerged.

Addressing Head Teachers in Idanre Local Government, the Education Secretary for the Council Area, Mr. Ojo Alalabiaye said several curricula and extra-curricula activities were going to be integrated for the education of pupils at the basic education level.

Some of such activities would be inter-schools’ debate and inter- schools’ sports programmes to enhance the all-round academic development of the pupils.

While appealing for commitments and dedication to duties from the teachers, he assured that the State Government was determined to prioritise their welfare and also ensure that the teachers were adequately supervised to do their work commitedly through Neighborhood Inspection.

The Education Secretary, said Assistant Head-Teachers would henceforth be engaged in active classroom teaching  to address shortage of teachers in some schools.

He added that teachers would henceforth be periodically trained through a cluster training module to keep them abreast of modern learning and teaching methodologies.

Mr Alalabiaye commended the governor for his passion and vision aimed at revamping the education sector which he said was in a very bad shape both in terms of infrastructure and quality of contents at the inception of the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration.

The Education Secretary said the deplorable state of education in the state and the concern for the future of the state which only quality education could guarantee, moved the governor to sacrifice payment of UBEC Counterpart Funds upon which the sum of #7.6Billion has now accrued to the state to redirect the fortunes of basic education in Ondo State.

Speaking on behalf of the Head Teachers present at the meeting, the Head Teacher of Christ Anglican Primary School, Idanre, Mr Lamidi Ademoye lauded the State Government for its various plans for the advancement of education in the state.

He moreover assured of the unalloyed cooperation and partnership of teachers with the government at imparting functional and quality education in schools in Ondo State.
