Ondo State team in the Nigerian Professional Football League, Sunshine Stars FC, have gone past trouble waters in the elite league following their superlative performance against Ifeanyi Ubah, FC in the Week 37 match at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu – ode, Ogun State.
Ajibade Otegbeye opened scoring in the 17th minutes from the penalty spot followed by Defender, Kelechi Ogor’s brace in the 51st and 71st minutes to put the game beyond the visiting team.
Substitute Tope Orelope confirmed Sunshine Stars dominance with a sublime strike in the 80th minute to make it Sunshine 4 -nill.
With this heartwarming performance, Sunshine Stars which were 19th on the log when Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Oluwarotimi, SAN, took over as Governor of Ondo State in February this year, are now sure of participating at the elite league next season.
The Ondo State darling players who displayed high level of soccer artistry throughout the duration of the game were cheered to victory by several dignitaries who include: Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN; the Secretary to the Government of Ondo State, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde; the newly inaugurated State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Saka Yusuf Ogunleye; Chairman Interim Committee of Ondo State Football Agency, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye ; the Osun State FA Chairman, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi; a professional colleague and friend of the governor, Chief Wole Aina with members of Sunshine Supporters’ Cub including top notch of National Union of Road Transport Workers ,Ondo State branch.
Sunshine Stars last game of the season is an away match against already relegated Remo Stars FC.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Governor, Araknrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has expressed satisfaction with the performance of Sunshine Stars, FC in their last home game of the season against Ifeanyi Ubah, FC.
He said with the performance, Sunshine Stars will not only avoid relegation but on course to win the Aiteo Cup, formerly known as FA Cup.
Governor Akeredolu made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after Sunshine Stars home win over FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu – Ode.
Also the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye expressed optimism that the team will have a better outing next season.
