As part of the effort to foster the growth of Nigeria’s ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through its special purpose vehicle, the Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE), organised a two day hackathon tagged Futurehack for the North Central region of Nigeria.
The programme which was held at Nile University, Abuja is the first in the series of 3 editions, the next edition is scheduled to hold at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) on 8th and 9th July for the North West Region, 15th and 16th st Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) for the South West Region. The programme is expected to hold in all the six Geopolitical Zones of the country.
In his remarks, the Chief Host/ Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIIM urged the youths to think critically and come up with promising ideas that could be nurtured by the Agency and translate them into marketable solutions.
Dr Pantami stated that the main objective of the FutureHACK is to encourage Students, Youths in the ICT related fields to think out of the box and innovate local solutions and revolutionary ideas that could address various challenges faced in the society.
The major highlight of the day was the presentation of Certificates and Cash prices to participating innovators who pitched their solutions to the gathering.
