Empowerment: Senator Yele Omogunwa Gives Back to His Constituents
Ondo state govenor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has asked for the cooperation of the people of the southern senatorial district for the construction of the 50 kilometers Ibeju Lekki /Araromi Road in Ilaje local Goverment.
Governor Akereolu who sought the cooperation at the second phaze of empowerment scheme of the Senator representing Ondo South,Senator Yele Omogunwa held at the Methodist Primary School Ground Odo – Irele in Irele local council Area of the state.
Akeredolu who urged the youths to show understanding and maximum support with the contractor that would handle the project said the Ibeju lekki/Araromi road became necessary to fully harness the natural resources deposited in the south.
While commending senator Omogunwa on the empowerment scheme, Akeredolu said the senator joined APC at the most appropriate time stressing that automatic wavers would be granted to new members who are willing to join the party to enjoy all rights and privileges.
He said the empowerment will benefit the overall interest of the people in his constituent noting that, the people should continue to pray for president buhari and his administration for more success stories.
Also speaking, Senator Yele Omogunwa said one motor grader and materials worth 80 million naira will be distributed to empower the people of his constituent.
Omogunwa said the empowerment programme is targeted towards alleviating the hardship being experienced by the people at this time of economic meltdown as well as empower the students, widows, traders to boost for sustainable growth and development.
He explained that, one motor grader, 120 mattresses, 240 bags of cement, 4000 copies of mathematics textbooks, over one Million naira, 300 bags of rice, 480 pieces of clothing materials, 24 cartons Of vegetable Oil and 36 cartons of detergents were distributed to the selected individuals and centres in the six local governments of Ondo south.
He further maintained that, the motor grader machine would benefit all communities on Ondo south particularly to ease movement of farmers and their produce through the grading of rural and feeder roads.
“My interaction with farmers and traders generally reveals that, cost of transportation on prices of foodstuff is abysmal as farmers and traders alike are under heavy stress in transporting their produce out of their various farm settlements. The deplorable conditions of roads. As a member of the Senate committee on agriculture and Rural Development, i am of the opinion that this grader will boost agriculture in a way and open up the rural areas for the needed development. The operation will include grading of our township roads to ease other vehicular movement for the benefit of the populace “.
He revealed that, no amount of empowerment materials or cash made available that can go round or meet the expectations of the people considering the effect of the present economic recession confronting the nation and appealed for patient for more progress and development.
He stressed that, the beneficiaries of the materials were selected after a painstaking consultation with relevant stake holders.
Dignitaries that graced the event were, the secretary to the state government, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, Chief of staff, Olugbenga Ale, Ade Adetimehin, Hon Jimmy Odimayo, the Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa Oba Micheal Adetoye among others.
