The All Progressives Congress, APC, 77-Member National Campaign Council for the 14th July, 2018 Governorship election in Ekiti State has held its inaugural meeting in Abuja.
The Chairman of the Council, Kebbi State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, in his opening remarks, charged members of the Campaign Council to work conscientiously and harmonize their respective political level-headedness for APC to record outstanding success in the election.
While emphasizing the importance of the election to the APC, the Chairman said members of the Campaign Council must work hard to bring Ekiti State back to the mainstream of progressive politics in Nigeria in line with the desire of President Muhammadu Buhari who, according to him, has demonstrated great commitment in his restoration agenda to return honour and dignity to Ekiti State.
He said: “As we all know, Ekiti State is the only state in the South-West that is being ruled by the PDP. This is un-acceptable to our party. As such. we must use this governorship election to prove that we are for the people and the people are behind us”
The Chairman expressed joy over the huge turnout at the meeting, and commended other governorship aspirants in the state for turning up and contributing meaningfully to the meeting.
He said the enthusiasm displayed in the deliberations at the meeting by all members show that the candidate of the party, Dr John Kayode Fayemi would win the election convincingly.
He, therefore, urged the aspirants to use their respective structures to embark on intensive campaigns that will give the APC a resounding victory at the election.
Various sub committees set up at the meeting are being expected.
