A flourish of excitement waved through the participants of the Bootcamp as Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu -Akeredolu graced Ondo State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilara- Mokin, the venue of BEMORE SUMMER BOOTCAMP.
The first lady inspected different classes where lectures on Computer Basic Appreciation anchored by Seed Dev were on-going. She encouraged the girls to be committed to the program while charging the organising team to ensure that the girls lacked nothing needed for attaining the lofty goals of the project.
The classes informed the young minds on the hardware and software components of a computer including input and output devices, and their operational functions. Booting, shutting down, icons, files and folders were also introduced to the girls.
Glory Oguegbu, founder of Climate Smart Nigeria and the leadership Hub donated 420 copies of her book – The Year Ran Mad – to the first lady in support of the Bemore Summer Bootcamp. She lauded the wife of the Governor for her unwavering commitment to girl child development. Oguegbu also explained that the book simplifies the subject of Climate Change in order to help the children understand the concept and learn how they can play a role to combat the menace.
Earlier in the day, the girls were taken through a routine morning exercise, prayers and delicious meals.
Medical tests on Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Blood Group were conducted on the 400 participants. This is a continuation of health exercises introduced yesterday at the camp. Lectures were equally delivered on safe sex, menstrual hygiene and sharing of sharp objects. The health experts admonished the girls on how and why to live free of HIV/AIDS. The team further confirmed that no incident of HIV positive has been recorded so far in course of the exercise.
